The Palaver
Special edition, with audio CD by Gad Hollander and Andrew Bick (1999)

Originally produced as a "photo roman" book in 1998, The Palaver (1998) was created as a story-board for an imaginary film. Now, its authors - artist, Andrew Bick and writer and film-maker, Gad Hollander - have adapted the work to create an accompanying "sound track" and the book and audio CD have been combined in a new Book Works limited edition. Bick and Hollander's audio CD complements the book version in the same way that a soundtrack complements a reel of film, providing readings of the text by Jennifer Chalmers, Gad Hollander and "Bill," a computer-generated voice.

The title "Palaver" implies or refers to the idea of "around idle speech; the text is layered with meanings and its presentation is both erotic and voyeuristic whilst alluding to the tensions between text, or in the case of the CD, "dialogue" and image.

The Palaver CD (36 mins) is available as a limited edition together with a signed and numbered copy of the book, presented together in a slip-case.
