Here There and Everywhere

Four volumes entitled The Sea is a Magic Carpet LA and Liverpool, D and B in a slip case. Edition 100, hard back. By drawing on the disused sheaf catalogues of the library, no longer maintained following computerisation, and on the disused card catalogue of LA Central Library, Bunn has made bookworks comprising poems from sequences of titles, followed by the material traces evidenced by the sheafs and cards. The poems draw out connections between the two cities, their histories, and their popular music. The intimate encounter with the bookworks gives visitors the chance to sit down and experience the delirium of a library catalogue organised as a reading experience, and wittily challenges our abilities to find sense and connections in the strangest places. David Bunn lives and works in Los Angeles and this project was his first in the UK.
